Catherine Malandrino
Born in Grenoble, France, Catherine Malandrino began her designer career in Paris after graduating from Esmod. Her career began working in the houses of Emanuel Ungaro, Louis Feraud, and for five years was the creative force behind the revival of the French label Et Vous. She later made her entrance to American design in 1998 as Diane Von Furstenberg's head designer. An immediate hit, her collection is well known the world over.
Catherine Malandrino's inspiration is drawn from both the energy of New York and the undying romance of Paris. Focused on this combination, her style and design are both beautiful and functional. Inspired by the designs of both Madeleine Vionnet and Coco Chanel, Malandrino's creations are stunning. Through the use of many different luxurious fabrics, combined with the idea of contrast, her pieces exude beauty and lavishness. Her pieces combine the femininity of a woman with the edge of every day life.
